Call-Out: Music & Sensory Leaders

Music & Sensory Leaders x4

The Project: Sensory Sounds in Nature

Working with babies and young people in Kettering and Corby to create new music through sensory and inclusive exploration of our natural world.

Through outdoor listening, recording and material gathering, we will work with Babies (under 2s) and Inclusive Families (including children with additional and/or complex needs and their families) to create sounds, rhythms and music to sample in a finished piece working with composers.

There will be 3 terms of sessions (2 4-week sessions with extra taster sessions, and 2 drop-in summer sessions) for each group to enjoy from June until October 2021 at Wicksteed Park and Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre.

Our overall aim is to create new musical pieces through sensory exploration of nature's sounds, smells, textures, sights and feelings and to encourage further participation in musical and creative activities both independently and as part of our future projects. The final musical pieces will be presented to the groups at the end of each term.

This project aims to provide a safe, inclusive space for families to get creative, improve their confidence and improve their general wellbeing through fun and rewarding sessions that are social, welcoming and accessible.

The Role

Supported by our Activity Manager Natalya Martin, you will be leading weekly sessions exploring nature through outdoor listening, recording and material gathering which you will then share with our composers to create each termly piece of music.

Development of the sessions and activity will be led by Natalya Martin with your collaboration, therefore, your main responsibility will be facilitating and delivering the sessions.

The Babies groups will be led by 1 Music & Sensory Leader and the Inclusive Families groups will be led by 2 Music & Sensory Leaders.
