A workshop exploring just some of the ways we can make our theatre work as green as it can be.

About this Event

Introduction to Sustainable Theatre Making is a workshop exploring just some of the ways we can make our theatre work as green as it can be.

We will begin finding creative ways of making shows in a way that it can have the biggest impact it can, with the smallest footprint. From the moment the idea is born, to when it meets the audience, and when it’s all ‘over’, we’ll discuss the ins and outs of what it means to make a show in the context of the climate crisis.

This workshop is about how the creation of a show can reflect the ethos of the team behind it.

The workshop will take place over zoom and will last approx. 1.5 hours and is Pay What You Can.

This workshop is hosted by Carbon Theatre as part of the Seedling project by Helen Crevel. Seedling is an audio installation opening in the Grosvenor Centre, Northampton, a shopping centre from 25 May 2021.

This workshop will be captioned.

About Staging Change

Staging Change is a grassroots artist-led organisation which supports theatre makers responding to the climate crisis.

As storytellers, they have a unique capacity to explore key issues with audiences both on and off the stage. In a warming world, this means taking leadership in communicating the importance of environmental action, whether that be through the content of our projects or the sharing of their practice.

They also believe that the cultural industry has a responsibility to reduce its environmental impact, both in terms of its carbon emissions and waste production.

Their network of performers, makers, venues and organisations work together to discuss how the industry can overcome the challenges it faces in becoming more environmentally sustainable. Whether you’re a green theatre machine or new to the sustainability game, everyone is welcome to join the discussion.

It’s time for change. As part of the wider #CreativeClimate and #GreenArts movement, Staging Change is working to create a green future for theatre.
