Cub

A storm is coming and the waters are rising. What will happen to the home where Kit, Mum and Nai Nai live? What about the fox and her cubs?

Climb inside our den for an exciting story about how big our families really are.

Cub is a audio story and den installation co-created with children from Cottesmore Academy, inspired by the themes of Seedling, and is designed for children aged 7-12*. It’s free to attend and takes about 20 minutes total (although you are welcome to stay as long as you like!).

Where to find us next:

Wigan Library: Saturday 11th October, 10am - 12.30pm.

Tyldesley Library: Monday 13th October, 3.30pm - 4.30pm.

Golborne Library: Tuesday 14th October, 3.30pm - 4.30pm.

Standish Library: Wednesday 15th October, 3.30pm - 4.30pm.

Leigh Library: Saturday 18th October, 10am - 12.30pm.

We recommend Cub for children over 7. Younger children may enjoy Cub, though it may be a bit scary when the flood happens and there might be some bits that need explaining. If you would like to check the contents of Cub to gauge if it’s suitable for your children, please download our Parent Explainer document here.

Cub was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England to be created with Years 3 and 4 at Cottesmore Academy, Rutland. The classes collaborated with our returning creatives Helen Crevel, Anne Langford, Ruth Stringer and Alice Boyd to create something new inspired by the themes of Seedling. We then showed Cub at three pop-ups at Grosvenor Centre in Northampton, Family Arts Festival in Corby and Oakham Library in Rutland, before touring to 14 schools across Rutland, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire in 2025.

Cub has since been supported with further funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England to come to Wigan and Leigh in 2025.
